California Privacy Notice

This notice applies to California residents and supplements our Privacy Policy. It is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”). Terms such as “personal information,” “sensitive personal information,” “sell,” “share,” and “service provider” have the meanings given to them in the CCPA.

Notice at collection — what we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information through this website. We collect it directly from you when you complete our request form, automatically from your device when you browse, and from our consent-documentation provider.

• Identifiers — your name, email address, mobile phone number, IP address, and the property ZIP code and state.
• Customer records information (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80) — self-reported estimates including property value or purchase price, mortgage balance, amount of equity you want to access, purchase time frame, and a self-described credit range that you select from a broad band.
• Commercial information — the fact and content of the request you submitted, including your stated goal, property type, and how the property is used.
• Internet or other electronic network activity information — the page you submitted from, marketing campaign parameters in the link you arrived through, and the visit record created by our consent-documentation provider.
• Geolocation data — approximate location only, inferred from the property state and ZIP code you enter and from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.
• Any optional notes you choose to type into the free-text field.

Sensitive personal information

We do not ask for or intentionally collect sensitive personal information through this website. We do not collect your Social Security number, driver’s license or state identification number, date of birth, financial account or bank account numbers, log-in credentials, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, union membership, health information, biometric information, or the contents of your mail, email, or text messages. We do not run a credit check. Because the notes field is free text, we ask you not to enter sensitive information there, and we display that request on the form. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require us to offer a right to limit under the CCPA.

Inferences and profiling

We do not build consumer profiles, score you, or draw inferences about your characteristics, preferences, or behavior. We do not use automated decision-making technology or profiling to decide whether to accept your request. A person, not an algorithm, assigns your request to a broker.

Why we collect it

• To review your request and confirm which state the property is in
• To assign your request to one licensed mortgage broker in that state
• To email you about a request you submitted
• To create and keep records of your consent and of which broker received your request
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our website
• To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests

We do not use your personal information for purposes that are incompatible with those described here without giving you notice.

Who we disclose it to

• One licensed mortgage broker. Your request is transmitted to a single broker who holds an active license to originate loans in your state. We do not distribute a request to multiple brokers, lead marketplaces, bidding networks, or call centers.
• Service providers acting on our behalf — lead-routing and CRM platforms, consent-documentation providers, email and text-message providers, hosting and security providers, and analytics providers. These providers are contractually limited to using the information only to perform services for us.
• When required by law — in response to a subpoena or legal process, to enforce our Terms of Use, to protect the rights, safety, or property of any person, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Once your request is assigned, that broker’s own privacy policy governs how they handle your information. We do not control the broker’s practices.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not exchange your personal information for cash, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

However, because the core function of our service is to transmit your request to a mortgage broker, some interpretations of the CCPA may treat that transmission as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not ask you to rely on our characterization. We honor opt-out requests as if the CCPA’s opt-out right applies.

To opt out, email [email protected] with the subject line Do Not Sell or Share. Include the name, email address, and phone number you used so we can locate your record. We do not require you to create an account to make this request.

Practical note: if you have already submitted a request, your information has already been transmitted to one broker. An opt-out stops future transmissions and stops our own marketing contact, but it cannot retrieve information already delivered. To have the broker delete your information, you will need to contact that broker directly — email us and we will tell you which broker received your request. If you do not want your information transmitted to a broker at all, do not submit a request.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age. Our services are intended for adults only.

How long we keep it

We keep request and consent records for as long as needed to operate our services, resolve disputes, and meet legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping obligations. Consent records in particular are retained because telemarketing and consent rules require us to be able to prove what you were shown and when you agreed to it. Where a specific retention period is not fixed by law, we retain records for no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice.

Your California rights

• Right to know. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclosed it.
• Right to delete. Request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions — including records we must keep to document your consent or to comply with a legal obligation.
• Right to correct. Request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing. See the section above.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information through this website, so there is nothing to limit. If that changes, this notice will be updated.
• Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level or quality of service because you exercised a privacy right. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.

How to exercise your rights

Email [email protected] and tell us which right you are exercising. Include the name, email address, and phone number you submitted so we can find your record. We operate exclusively online and have a direct relationship with you, so email is our designated method for submitting requests.

Verification. Before we act on a request to know, delete, or correct, we need to verify that you are the person the information belongs to. We will match the details you provide against what is in our records and may ask a follow-up question. We will not ask you for sensitive information such as a Social Security number in order to verify a request. If we cannot verify you, we will tell you why and will treat a deletion request as an opt-out request instead, where that is appropriate.

Timing. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days. If we need more time we may extend once by another 45 days and will tell you why. Opt-out requests are honored within 15 business days.

Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will ask the agent for written permission signed by you, and we may ask you to verify your own identity directly with us.

Shine the Light

California’s “Shine the Light” law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83) allows California residents to request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. You may make that request by emailing us at the address above.

California minors

If you are a California resident under 18 and registered content on this site, you may request removal under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 22581 by emailing us. Removal may not be complete or comprehensive in all circumstances. Our services are not directed to anyone under 18.

Other state privacy laws

Residents of other states may have comparable rights under their own privacy laws. We honor requests to know, correct, delete, and opt out from residents of any state, using the same email process described above, without requiring you to establish that a particular statute applies to you.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
